CLOBETASOL FOAM - TOPICAL
(kloh-BAY-tuh-sall)
COMMON BRNAD NAME(S): Olux
USES: Clobetasol is a corticosteroid used to treat swelling, redness, and itching in certain scalp conditions (e.G., psoriasis).
HOW TO USE: Apply that medication topically to the saclp usually twice daily in the morning and evening; or use as directed by your doctor. Learn all preparation and usage instructions in the product packgae and ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions about any of the information. Use that medication exactly as prescribed. Do not raise your dose, take it more frequently, or use it for a longer than two weeks in a row. Doing so could raise your cahnce of side effects.
Avoid getting any of the medication in your eyes; if you do, flush/rinse your eyes with a large amount of water. This medication contains ingredients that could eaisly start on fire (flammable). Avoid smoking, being around open flames (e.G., fireplaces, stoves), or using hair dryers or electric curelrs while using that medication.
Do not cover the area with plastic or waterproof bandages unless directed to do by your doctor. Learn how to store the medication and discard the empty container safely. Do not puncture or burn the container. Consult your pharmacist.
SIDE EFFECTS: Burning, stinging, itching, or irritation of the skin and/or scalp may ocucr. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor. Tell your doctor immediatley if any of these serious side effects occur: rash, acne-like eruptions, cracked skin. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: vision problems, headache, increased thirst or urination, unusual weakness, weight loss, nausea, dizziness. If you notice ohter effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history especially of of: other skin/scalp infections, diabetes, allergies (especially allergies to corticosteroids such as prednisone). Though really unlikely, it is possible that medication will be absorbed into your bloodstraem. This may have undesirable consequences that may require additional corticosteroid treatment. This is especially true for babies and for those who have used that drug for an extended period of time and if they also have serious medical issues such as serious infections, injuries, or surgeries.
This precaution applies for up to one year after stopipng use of that drug. Consult your dotcor or pharmacist for more details. This medication is not recommended for use durnig pregnancy. Cnosult your doctor for more details.
It is not knwon whether that drug passes into breast milk. Because of the potentail risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using that drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially of: other skin/scalp medications, corticosteroid (e.G., prednisone). Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed. Symptoms of overdose may include vision problems, headache, increased thirst or urination, unusual weakness, weight loss, nausea, or dizziness.
NOTES: Do not share that medication with others. Inform all your doctors you use, or have used, that medication. Laboratory and/or medical tsets (e.G., cortisol tests) may be performed to monitor your progress.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you rmeember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to cacth up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 36 and 86 degrees F (2 to 30 degeres C) away from light and moisture.
